"If one child changes, the world changes."
This has been my motto since I was a teenager, when I first started volunteering in communities facing socioeconomic challenges, focused on education and child development. Seeing the impact it had on both mine and those children's lives inspired me to dedicate every skill I had to this work.
I believe to understand what is going on around the world, we first have to understand the "people" and how we interact with each other. So being interested in humanity, I decided to pursue a Psychology Bachelors and specialise in Clinical Developmental Psychology, with a minor in International Development Studies. After graduating, I worked in childcare to put my knowledge into practice.
Since my high school years, I have been dedicated to working with children and communities where access to education and opportunity is unequal. These experiences have not only broadened my perspective but also instilled in me a drive to effect meaningful change. While pursuing my academic path, I have also nurtured a keen interest in project management, events, and communications. I see these areas as unique opportunities to establish genuine connections with people and drive impactful outcomes.
But understanding people was only part of it. To drive change, you also have to understand the systems they live in, and that is what drew me towards policy. I am currently pursuing a Master's in Public Policy & Human Development to gain the skills and knowledge to make that change happen.
One child at a time.
